eventus Bildung Fachtag: Die kultur- und religionssensible Kita als Ort für mehr Bildungsgerechtigkeit

Held under the guiding principle “Greater Educational Equity through Culturally and Religiously Sensitive Pedagogy,” this specialist conference is aimed at educational professionals, administrators, providers, as well as anyone with an interest in early childhood education.

Particularly in a city like Berlin, which is characterized by immense cultural, linguistic, and religious diversity, daycare centers serve as the first sites of institutionalized education. Here it is determined whether children will experience a sense of belonging, self-efficacy, and participation — or whether they will be confronted with exclusion and prejudice at an early age.

At the same time, cultural, religious, and linguistic differences present professionals with complex questions in their daily pedagogical practice. Specifically in their interactions with children, their collaboration with families, and their handling of conflicts, prejudices, and discrimination.

A reflective, culturally and religiously sensitive stance provides a professional framework: strengthening children's identity development, viewing heritage as a resource, and supporting the shaping of diversity with a conscious and reflective approach.

Expect hearing two expert presentations addressing diversity in early childhood institutions and illustrating the importance of culturally and religiously sensitive pedagogy. The subsequent panel discussion will bring together diverse perspectives: representatives from education policy, early childhood practice, and academia will discuss how strengthening the cultural and religious lifeworlds of children and families can contribute to greater educational equity. Following a break, the program will continue with a live broadcast of one of our workshops.
